For its Fall / Winter Campaign 2023, Val Mont Lac went to the iconic Susten Pass in Switzerland. Located in the heart of Switzerland, the Susten Pass is a breathtaking mountain pass connecting the cantons of Uri and Bern. Renowned for its stunning alpine scenery, the pass offers winding roads with panoramic views of the majestic Steingletscher, lush valleys, and cascading waterfalls. At an elevation of 2,260 meters, the Susten Pass is a renown route for driving enthusiasts, cyclists, and hikers alike. Open from late spring to autumn, this mountain pass is an iconic Swiss destination.

Swiss mountain passes have a rich history dating back to ancient times, serving as vital routes for trade, travel, and communication across the rugged terrain of the Alps.

The Romans were among the first to recognize their strategic importance, constructing roads to facilitate the movement of troops and goods. During the Middle Ages, these passes became crucial for merchants and pilgrims journeying between northern and southern Europe.

Over the centuries, engineering advancements transformed many of these routes into well-maintained roads, enhancing accessibility and boosting tourism. Today, Swiss mountain passes are celebrated not only for their historical significance but also for their breathtaking landscapes and opportunities for outdoor adventure.
